Mechanical Engineering

ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Mechanical Engineering is the discipline that applies principles of Engineering, Physics, Material Science and Mathematics to analyse, design, develop, manufacture operate and maintain Mechanical Systems and Subsystems. It is one of the oldest and broadcast branches of engineering which provides job opportunities in varied fields like all kind of factories, central, state and private organisations, military, aviation, infrastructure and energy sector etc. Core areas of study in Mechanical Engineering include mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, material science, structure analysis and electricity. In the Mechanical Engineering Department focus is on providing knowledge, exposure, hands on experience and training in all core areas and related fields. In addition to these cores area students are trained on various hardware and software tools to design and analyse manufacturing system, industrial equipment and machines, heating and cooling system, transport systems, aircraft, water craft and space craft, robotics, weapon system, medical devices and automation system. Skill Academy in the department reduces skill deficit by providing skill courses which are compulsory in addition to normal curriculum. Industry based projects, lectures and at least one value addition workshop every semester, give a winning edge to all the offered by programmes the Mechanical Engineering Department of RabindraNath Tagore University. To achieve the above objectives the department works with following vision and mission-
