About Faculty of Law

The Department of Law was established in RNTU to promote the ideals of social inclusion and independent thinking to evolve equality among the scholars and students. The department has established a dedicated library for the purpose of propagating the knowledge with the provided material that is inline with the international standards. The department also has its fully equipped moot court where regular moot court sessions and competitions are organized along with classroom teaching, projects, assignments, and outreach programs.

The Department provides the students with an environment to help students develop an analytical approach towards law and enable them become the leaders in their chose profession of law and render service to the public to help the society as a whole. Expert, experienced faculty, excellent library and e-resources and world class infrastructure provide a perfect environment in the University to transforms a student in to a good legal professional with strong moral & ethical traits.

We believe that continuously improving competency and innovation are at the core of the education system. We provide students with a large variety of learning aids and facilities to help them become pro-active and competent academic professionals. The students are provided with exposure to practical classroom teaching opportunities and relevant communication skills to help them gain confidence in their abilities. We believe that an academic professional should be ready to transform and make improvements in the established conventions of teaching.

Programme Offered By Law

Programme: - B.A.L.L.B (Hons)

Duration : - 5 Year

Eligiblity Criteria : - Pass 12 Passed in any stream, General & OBC-50%, SC/ST-45%

Procedure : - On the basis of merit / AJEE

Overview : -

Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Legislative Law (Honours) is a 5-year graduate degree programme designed for students who want to make their career in the field of legislative law. The course covers subjects like history, law of contract, legal method, economics, political science, business laws and negotiable instruments acts, family law, sociology, torts and consumer protection law, environmental law, law of crimes, administrative law, and more. The candidates are also given extensive project assignments and internships to enhance and cultivate their analytical thinking for solving practical problems. The candidate, after the course, can work in capacities of legal advisors, solicitor, public prosecutor, notary, magistrate, and more.

Programme: - L.L.B

Duration : - 3 Year

Eligiblity Criteria : - Graduate in any Stream with 45% marks for Gen. and 40% for OBC/SC/ST

The course covers subjects like law of evidence, law of torts and consumer protection act, criminal law, labour law, human rights and international law, legal writing, civil procedure code, property law, land laws, code of criminal procedure, company law, administrative law, law of contract, jurisprudence, environmental law, constitutional law, professional ethics, family law, arbitration, conciliation, and alternative, and more. The candidates are also given extensive project assignments and internships to enhance and cultivate their analytical thinking for solving practical problems. The candidate, after the course, can work in capacities of legal services chief, legal manager, lecturer, public prosecutor, advocate, legal advisor, and more.

Duration : - 1 Year

Eligiblity Criteria : - LLB with 55% marks for Gen & OBC and 50% for SC/ST

The course covers subjects like taxation law, family law, constitutional law, environmental law, criminal law, corporate law and governance, intellectual property law, insurance law, human rights, jurisprudence, international trade and business law, and more. The candidates are also given extensive project assignments and internships to enhance and cultivate their analytical thinking for solving practical problems. The candidate, after the course, can work in capacities of legal consultant/associate, legal document reviewer, trustee, oath commissioner, notary, magistrate/judge, advocate, and more.

Programme: - PG Diploma (Consumer Protection)

Duration : - 1 Year

Programme Outcome : -

  • Analyse and assess the need for consumer protection, its historical development and outline the areas covered by consumer protection laws,
  • Analyse and assess the legal obligations of a supplier of goods or services and expalin the legal effect of the use of exclusion clauses in relation to case study material, and explain the concept of supply chain liability.
  • Analyse and assess the obligations of manufacturers or suppliers in relation to unfair and unsolicited sales techniques and the rights of consumers under the law of tort.
  • Analyse and outline the liability of manufacturers for unsafe products under Consumer protection Act.
  • Analyse legislation improving product safety and product information standards and recalls and bans, and enforcement processes.
  • Identify and analyse the types of credit available, their relative advantages and disadvantages, and the requirements on the part of the credit provider and the consumer.
  • Analyse and evaluate the bodies available to protect the rights of the consumer and discuss their operations

Overview : -

P.G. Diploma in Consumer Protection Law is a 1-year postgraduate diploma programme designed for students who want to make their career or get an insight of the Consumer Protection Laws. The course covers subjects like protection of consumers in the online market, introduction to product liability and consumer protection act, introduction law and legal systems, anti-competitive trade practices and protection of consumers in the era of globalisation, consumer friendly legislations and regulatory institutions in the era of globalisation, consumer’s access to justice: speedy resolution of consumer disputes, and more. The candidates are also given extensive project assignments and internships to enhance and cultivate their analytical thinking for solving practical problems. The candidate, after the course, can work as consumer laws that are hired by financial institutions, government agencies, as well as individuals.

  • Critically examine the context of Indian employment laws and the rights and obligations that arise in employment relationships;.
  • Critically appraise the principles, statutory frameworks, and institutions regulating labour relations in local & global.
  • Apply principles and rules governing the employment relationship to real world problems and devise solutions;
  • Apply theoretical and practical skills in the practice of conciliation and arbitration
  • Outline dispute resolution processes appropriate to culturally diverse environments;
  • Hypothesise the future direction of labour law and relevant dispute resolution processes and formulate ideas for law reform;
  • Discuss the legal consequences of a protected and unprotected strike, and describe the correct procedures to be followed in the dismissal of striking employees.

  • This course explores technical, legal, and social issues related to cybercrime.
  • Cybercrime is a broad term that includes offences where a computer may be the target, crimes where a computer may be a tool used in the commission of an existing offence, and crimes where a computer may play a subsidiary role such as offering evidence for the commission of an offence.
  • The operation of computers and the internet will be discussed.
  • The origins and extent of cybercrime, responses from legal systems to cyber-criminals, and the social impact of cybercrimes will be addressed.
  • Various types of cybercrimes, cyber-criminals, as well as the motivations and methods involved in cyber-offences will be explored.
