The C V Raman Centre for Science Communication (CSC) is one of the premier Centres of Excellence at Rabindranath Tagore University. Since its inception, CSC has been at the forefront of science awareness, education, and outreach, significantly contributing to public engagement with science across Madhya Pradesh and beyond.
The Centre for Science Communication (CSC) is at the heart of India's mission to establish world-class institutions equipped with cutting-edge research facilities and to cultivate a highly skilled pool of professionals.
By connecting students and institutions at a fundamental level, CSC fosters an environment of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing. Serving as a vital information infrastructure, CSC empowers institutions to evolve into hubs of scientific excellence and a knowledge-driven society.
The primary goal of CSC is to promote scientific awareness among the general public, especially in rural and underdeveloped areas. We aim to cultivate a mindset that embraces science and technology, serve as a vital link between faculty and students, and foster a committed, ethical approach to science in both personality and daily life.
The Centre has undertaken various projects in science communication, awareness campaigns, and academic events like seminars and conferences. These have been supported by key government bodies such as NCSTC, DST, and MPCST to strengthen the link between science and society.
It also collaborates with renowned institutions like the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) and CSIR–NIScPR to design impactful programs that engage the public in scientific thinking, innovation, and informed discourse.
The Centre partners with leading government organizations like the National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology (DST), and Madhya Pradesh Council of Science & Technology (MPCST) to promote innovative projects that connect science with society.
Aspiring science communicators, students, and interns are encouraged to engage in collaborative research, outreach campaigns, and field activities, building their critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills while contributing meaningfully to society.
The Centre is currently offering the following two courses:
This three-month, skill-based course teaches the fundamentals of astronomy and provides hands-on experience with telescopes, including understanding their working principles.
This course is designed to sharpen students' writing skills for online and offline platforms. It covers content writing, science communication, and research paper writing. Renowned science writers deliver expert lectures during the course.
The Centre has been actively involved in the creation of scientific content and various publications, including anthologies, science articles, magazines, books, and monographs.
The Centre houses a well-organized library, a science communication lab equipped with telescopes, and a collection of educational science films.
