Rabindranath Tagore University - Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh



Rabindranath Tagore University, (formerly known as AISECT University) Madhya Pradesh's first private University, established in 2010, is a leading skill-based university of central India. The University was established by India’s leading education and skills organization, ALL INDIA SOCIETY FOR ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY (AISECT). The University is ranked among the top 200 universities by NIRF in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 by the Ministry of Education (Govt. of India). The University also got NAAC 'B' grade. The University is running programs in faculties like Engineering, Education, Management, Law, Information Technology, Humanities and Liberal Arts, Science, Commerce, Nursing, and Paramedical. It focuses on imparting skills and knowledge to empower students for employment and entrepreneurship. The University has also created an entrepreneurship cell, an IPR cell, an Industry-Academia cell, incubation center with a start-up cell. The University has established a Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kendra on the campus and has also set up Atal Incubation Centre by Niti Aayog, Govt. of India on the campus. The University is having rich Library, Computer center, and advanced research-based software labs. The University is known for its Research in the areas of renewable energy, material science, seismic energy, agriculture, and arts and culture. In this context the University has set up 19 centers of excellence. The University is carrying out research project from DRDO (Govt. of India), NCTU (Taiwan) and IIT Delhi, Bio Diversity Board (Govt. of M.P.) etc. The University has excellent placement record, more that 80% student get placed. In short span of 13 years the University has got various awards and accolades at national and international levels. The University is recognized by UGC and member of AIU and ACU. The University institutes got approvals from Atal, NCTE, BCI, INC, PCI and the Paramedical Council of Madhya Pradesh.

LIBRARY FACILITIES


We provide a plethora of 79968 books, 19052 titles, journals and reports that cater to a wide range of subjects The library at Rabindranath Tagore University is nothing less than a knowledge paradise for students with access to a range of databases and traditional printed materials, the library proves to be the perfect knowledge resource.

LIBRARY RULES


  • All the users are required to produce evidence of their identity at the check post of the library, before entering. Keep all personal property (bag) outside of the library.

  • All the users are requested to make the library environment congenial for study.

  • The books marked “Reference books” “Journals” and “Magazines” will not be issued. Such books are to be read in the library only.

  • Students should keep books, and reading material belonging to the library neat, clean, and unmarked any tampering will lead to a fine as per the discretion of authorities.

  • All the regular students and staff will be issued (non-transferable) borrower cards.

  • On showing the identity card no more than live books for a maximum period of 15 days would be issued. After the due date of return borrower will be charged (library fine) @ Re. 1/- per book per day.

  • For keeping the book behind the stamped date library facilities will be withheld.

  • The last borrower will be held responsible if the book is found damaged, every borrower must check the page of the book before getting it issued.

  • In case a library card is lost, the same should be reported immediately to the library authorities. The charge for issue of the duplicate card is 

Rs. 25/-.

  • If the issued book is lost, it has to be replaced by the same new book of the current edition otherwise double the cost of the book has to be paid by the borrower.

  • Student’s membership will be renewed every year and would remain valid till the last working day of the academic session.

  • Library shall remain open during recess time on all working days apart from the normal working hours.

  • Personal and issued books are not allowed in the library for reading.

HEALTH AND SAFETY FACILITY

   Rabindranath Tagore University has a student health care center.

  • A full-time Medical Superintendent and also part-time specialists in general medicine. Consultation and medicines from the dispensary are available free of cost to all students.

  • Rabindranath Tagore University has also tied up with a reputed hospital located in close proximity to the campus. 

  • A team of qualified doctors is available there to provide regular and intensive medical care to students.

  • In case of emergency, the student is immediately transported to the hospital in a University Vehicle/ Ambulance. 


TRANSPORT FACILITY

  • In order to ensure the safety of students, a fleet of buses is run, facilitating pick and drop service for students.

  • Students have to reach their respective stops on time as buses depart and arrive on time.

SPORTS FACILITY

  • Students are encouraged to participate in sports activities because it plays a significant role in inculcating a feeling of brotherhood among them.

  • The university houses world-class facilities for Cricket, Hockey, Football, kabaddi, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball, and Kho-Kho, accessible to both students and faculty members.

  • Every student should participate at least in one game.

  • The basketball and tennis courts are provided with floodlights to enable students to play till late in the evenings. 

  • A gym available in the hostel has all the latest machines.

  • Sports Instructor is available at the University.

RULES & REGULATIONS OF COMPUTER LAB


  • The Lab should be kept clean and tidy at all times.

  • Switch off all power supplies before leaving the labs.

  • Internet facility is strictly for educational purposes only.

  • All users should record the use of the computer in the computer log book.

  • Do not change the setting on the computer.

  • Save all work in the external storage device and not on the computer.

  • Do not bring in bags, food, and drink into the Lab.

  • Turn off the computer accordingly after use.

  • Do not attempt to repair with Lab equipment.

  • Be responsible when using equipment, software, and facilities in the Lab.

  • Do not move any equipment from its original position.

  • Do not remove or load any software into the computer.

  • Students are prohibited to enter the Lab unless authorized by the teacher.

  • Scan diskettes before using them.

  • Report all problems related to the system to the teacher.

  • The Rabindranath Tagore University cafeteria is an ideal place with the perfect ambiance and meal options that enables the students to unwind while they have a healthy meal.

  • The larger mess hall is equipped to serve lunch and dinner to all students between the scheduled times.

  • Canteen serves a variety of snacks along with North and South Indian dishes at affordable prices.

  • The Rabindranath Tagore University has its own store which provides daily needs items, stationery, and eatables.


RAILWAY CONCESSION FACILITY

  • Railway Concession is available according to Government norms

  • Railway Concession forms will be issued to the student to travel to and from Home town only. The term "Home" denotes:

(i) Native Place of the Student or 

(ii) The place where the parent or if no parent is alive the guardian of the student normally resides.

  • Application for Railway concession forms for all the students of a parent studying in RNTU should be submitted at one and the same time.

  • Railway concession forms will be issued for Mid-term vacation and Summer Vacation, but not for Winter break.

SCHOLARSHIP

SCHOLARSHIP TO OBC/SC/ST


Students belonging to Schedule Caste (SC), Schedule Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) can avail of scholarships through various government schemes. The scholarship department is located near the admission cell.

SHIKSHA MITRA SCHOLARSHIP


  • It is a unique and largest scheme of merit-cum-means scholarship program in the state offered by Rabindranath Tagore University. 

  • Scholarship is given to worthy students every year. Then, there are Reward Prizes and medals that are awarded to achievers at the end of every academic year. 

  • There are provisions of concessions and fee waivers for economically weaker classes.

  • The Anti-Ragging Committee is responsible for creating awareness about the ill effects of ragging among students, faculty, and staff.

  • It ensures that the university complies with all the anti-ragging regulations.

  • The Anti-Ragging Committee is responsible for investigating all complaints of ragging. If the ARC finds that ragging has taken place, it will take appropriate action against the perpetrators.

INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL

Thus, the quality parameters set by the various accreditation bodies have been completely accepted and imposed in the working culture of the university. By regulating the catalytic function, conscious decision, and consistent programmed actions, IQAC aims to promote a quality culture that leads to all-around excellence at the institutional level. 

EXAMINATION CELL

The Examination Cell at Rabindranath Tagore University is responsible for conducting all university examinations, both internal and external. The cell also oversees the preparation of question papers, evaluation of answer scripts, declaration of results, and Maintaining the records of all examinations.

The Examination Cell plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and fair conduct of examinations at the university. The cell is headed by an Examination Controller.


TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL

INTERNSHIP & PLACEMENT POLICY


The purpose of this policy is to ensure that placements and internships of registered students of RNTU are guided by fair and consistent principles and sound administration so that there is a positive experience and outcome for all stakeholders.


OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERNSHIP & PLACEMENT POLICY


  • Establish a clear and transparent framework for the processes related to placements and internships of the students of RNTU.

  • Ensuring the role and responsibility of the students participating in the placement and internship process.

  • Achieve placement of a maximum number of registered students.

  • There is a provision of 100% Internship and Placement Assistance to each student of RNTU subject to eligibility and performance of the student during the entire course of the academic program.


RULES GOVERNING PLACEMENTS


  • All students who are eligible to participate in the placement session and wish to avail the assistance of the Placement & Training cell in securing placement or internship are required to register themselves with the Training & Placement cell as per the notified schedule.

  • The Training & Placement cell may monitor the information provided by the students throughout the placement process for any ambiguous/ wrong/ misleading/ fraudulent information, If any student is found involved in such practices, the student may be debarred from the placement process. In addition, this may also lead to disciplinary action against the student.

  • Any student who willingly withdraws/ does not participate in the selection process after registering for it, without any valid reason, will be issued a warning on the first such instance. However, if such an instance is repeated, the student will be debarred from participating in the placement process till the achievement of 70% placements in his/her branch.

  • Every student of RNTU will get an Internship opportunity in either of the last two semesters of the respective academic program. The duration of the internship will vary as per the requirements of the academic program and industry.

  • The T & P cell will publish the list of eligible students before the internship/final placement process. The eligibility criteria include academic performances of previous semesters, overall institutional discipline parameters and attendance. The list will be finalized in consultation with Head of the Department & Dean.

  • The students are not eligible to participate in the final placement process until they submit copy of internship certificate along with copy of Internship/OJT report to T & P Cell.

  • Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) are to be routed only through the Training & Placement cell.  Any student receiving a PPO is required to report it immediately to the Training & Placement cell.

  • The students who have not registered for placement assistance from the University can seek off-campus placements.  Any off-campus placement offer to a student must be informed to the Placement & Training cell by the student immediately.

  • The Training & Placement cell is committed to providing support to the students of the University for placement and internship. This list of companies as potential recruiters shall be constantly updated as and when required.

  • The Training & Placement cell shall start inviting companies for placement and internship drives from the beginning of the placement session.

  • Once the Training & Placement cell has received the campus/internship requirements from the interested company, the same will be announced using suitable mediums (Notice Boards, Online Platforms, RNTU Websites). Students are advised to go through the details of the company/ job profiles/ packages/ eligibility criteria. 

  • Students interested in participating in response to the announcement made by Training& Placement cell for the placement/ internship drive by a particular company will be required to register for the same in the stipulated time period.

  • The company can decide to choose a selection process at their discretion, which may include any mix of pre-placement talk (PPT) written test (technical/ aptitude), group discussion, technical interview(s), and HR interview(s).

  • The list of selected/short-listed students should be duly signed by the responsible authority or can be sent to the TPO office from an official/ company email ID.

  • Once the offers are finalized, the company is required to send the offer letters to the Training & Placement cell. The Training & Placement cell will disseminate the offer letters to the selected students.

  • Companies and students are expected to be in communication with each other ONLY through authorized officials/ individuals from the Training & Placement cell and avoid direct contact during the placement drive except during the selection process.

  • Students are expected to behave with the companies in a courteous manner and should not argue with the recruiters and maintain decorum even under extreme situations. If there is a misconduct incident reported against any student, appropriate disciplinary action may be initiated, including debarring from further participation in the placement process. In case of any dispute related to the T & P process, (Student Perspective) the decision of the committee comprising of the Dean, HOD & TPO should be considered final.



COUNSELLING CELL

The counseling cell is an important resource for students who are facing challenges. The role of a counseling cell in a university is to provide support and guidance to students who are facing academic, personal, or emotional challenges. It helps students to Cope with stress and anxiety, improve their academic performance, resolve personal or emotional problems, make career decisions, and develop life skills. 

Student Counselor helps students thrive in a safe learning environment, promotes developmental interpersonal skills, and allows students to recognize their individual strengths and challenges

IIC RNTU

 The IIC RNTU is formed with the primary purpose to facilitate the creation of ideas and inventions that benefit society and importantly, are commercially ready by the end of the incubation program.  IIC RNTU provides a Pre-incubation program and also facilitates collaborations with mentors, partners, industry leaders, and investment professionals. We have a leading and growing network of high-profile entrepreneurs for our start-ups to work with who nurture and mentor aspiring entrepreneurs to transform their innovative ideas into viable entrepreneurial initiatives through excellence and service.

 

The objective of the IIC RNTU is to:


  • To foster an entrepreneurial culture, by providing the students, alumni, and faculty, opportunities to transform their business ideas to reality.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHT CELL

The cell is responsible for creating awareness about IP rights among the university's community. The cell can help faculty, students, and staff to file IP applications. This includes providing guidance on the IP application process, preparing the application documents, and filing the application with the relevant IP office. FACILITIES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  • International Students Cell provides all kinds of assistance for VISA, foreign currency, and details of routes and options. 

  • Separate block of hostel rooms for ISC. Room in this block has facilities to cater to the needs of ISC like a small kitchenette, AC, and WiFi internet.

  • ISC organizes special language classes for ISs. It provides counseling sessions also. ISC organizes Remedial Classes for ISs in subjects where they need extra coaching. ISC organizes the participation of ISs in cultural/social & sports events at the University.

  • E & I-Cell

  • To foster Entrepreneurship culture among the student fraternity, including things like creativity, problem-solving, risk-taking, and networking, RNTU has E-Cell. It helps students learn about the entrepreneurial ecosystem and also to connect students with other entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship Cells play a vital role in helping students develop the skills and mindsets they need to be successful entrepreneurs. It directly or indirectly promotes innovation and economic development. E-Cell of RNTU runs by the students and for the students.

DEAN STUDENT WELFARE

The Dean Student Welfare is a high level administrator in a university who is responsible for the overall welfare of students. Providing support for student with academic, personal and social challenges. The Dean Student Welfare may also be responsible for organizing and coordinating student activities such as clubs, sports teams, and cultural events. The Dean Student Welfare works closely with officials of the institution, such as the registrar, the house keeping department, health care coordinator, to ensure that students have access to the resource they need. 

STUDENT ACTIVITY COUNCIL (SAC)

Students Activity Council (SAC) is a union of students to address their concerns for the organization. Student Activity Council is conducted by students and supervised by senior faculties and higher authority of the University.

OBJECTIVES OF SAC


 The purpose of the student activity council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out University activities and service projects. 

  • Students can share ideas, interests, and concerns with the University-wide community.
    The University is known not only for academic excellence but also for offering superior opportunities to its students to participate in recreational and creative activities. 

  • SAC serves as the nerve center of all co-curricular activities on the campus.
    This constitution provides the basic framework for the management of all student activities.



THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF SAC 


  • To promote a spirit of brotherhood among all students of the University, bridging differences in state origin, academic program, branch of study, hall of residence, gender, and cultural preferences.

  • To promote extracurricular activities – sports, cultural, artistic, and technical,

among all students of the University.

  • To help inculcate leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation among students.

  • To help create a truly multicultural environment where students from diverse

cultural backgrounds share each other’s experiences in a most cordial manner.

THE CRITERIA TO BE A PART OF SAC


  • Good uphold over academics as well as extracurricular activities.

  • Regularity, discipline, punctuality.

  • Good teamwork spirit.

  • Leaders/ Conveners who can guide their committees to work smoothly and properly without any interference of thoughts and ideas among the members.

  • The conveners can't participate in the competition they organize in their committees because then other participants find the judgments to be biased.

  • Every committee can have a maximum of 8 core members.


NATIONAL CADET CORP

NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)

Rabindranath Tagore University not only prepares its students into being industry-ready professionals but also motivates the students to work for the Nation and join the armed forces. Thus, Rabindranath Tagore University has its own NCC naval wing, where they train students as cadets.


NCC NAVAL WING

The NCC in India was formed with the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948. It was raised on 15 July 1948 The National Cadet Corps can be considered as a successor of the   Officers Training Corps (UOTC) which was established by the British in 1942. NCC is the Indian military cadet corps wing of the Indian armed forces. NCC offers training to the students of schools and colleges. This is not compulsory training for all students. ... With this aim, NCC not only creates soldiers for the nation but it also develops leadership skills in the youth.

It is a government office. Naval wing of NCC under Indian Navy and state government staff.  It provides training to cadets who are enrolled in this NCC Unit. Camps are conducted by this unit twice a year, and training is provided to cadets in various activities like Boat Pulling, Enterprise sailing, Swimming, All India Nausainik Camp, National Integration Camp, etc. 

ACTIVITIES OF NCC 1 MP NAVAL UNIT NCC BHOPAL


It helps cadets in improving their all-around performance, take responsibility capability, be disciplined, exposure to various activities and outside cities. Cadets visit onboard ships twice a year. Good learning place (different from regular learning and studies).



ENROLLMENT

Qualifications for enrolment in the Senior Division- No student of the male sex of any University offering himself for enrolment in the Senior Division shall be eligible for enrolment: -

a) Unless he is of good character

b) Unless he is a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal

Provided that the Central Government may, in any suitable case, relax the provisions of this clause.

c) Unless he is under the age of 24 years.

d) Unless he is in the role of the University which is providing the unit.

e) Unless he satisfies such standard of physical fitness in height, chest measurement, and other respects as may be specified by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.


INDIAN NAVY


• In the Indian Navy, the NCC ‘C’ certified candidates get 6 extra marks for a sailor’s job and 15 extra marks for Artificer Apprentices.

• Up to 9 vacancies in the navy are reserved for NCC ‘C’ certified candidates. To get the recruitment done on these vacancies the candidate must have done his/her B.Sc. in physics or maths. B.E. candidates are also eligible for these vacancies. The age group of the candidate must be 19 to 24 years. He/she must have passed by SSB exempted from the CDS examination of UPSC.


NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunities to the student youth of 11th & 12th Class of schools at +2 Board level and student youth of Technical Institutions, Graduate & Post Graduate at University s and University level of India to take part in various government-led community service activities & programs. The University provides motivation to the students to go beyond classrooms/campus and take up serious social activities. Three nearby villages have been adopted by Rabindranath Tagore University where students regularly organize various programs to educate locals about social betterment, education, and hygiene and spread general awareness under the RNTU banner ‘JAGRITI’


AIM OF NSS


  • The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands-on experience to young students in delivering community service. 


ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED BY NSS


  • Periodic blood donation camps, tree Plantation drives, programs on the environment, women empowerment, 

  • Programme on the environment like ‘Carnival Week’ and bridging the gap between school and university through joint programs of Social Connect etc.

  • The CSR activities that the university undertakes are part of a long-term initiative to bring a position change in society and imbibe a sense of responsibility among the students.

YUVAAZ RADIO

Yuvaaz is an online community radio channel initiated by the AISECT Group of Universities. It acts as a platform for students and faculty members to spread knowledge, entertainment, and information, reaching out to a wide audience both nationally and internationally. It not only gives the youth a platform to showcase their talent but also to express their opinion on regional and social issues. Yuvaaz has 5 teams for recording, scripting, and editing through which students get an opportunity to enhance their inner potential for communication, writing, etc. 

CORE RESEARCH AND INNOVATION GROUP

CRIG – A UNIQUE CONCEPT 

CRIG (Core Research and Innovation Group) was established in 2017 to help develop research facilities and build up an environment for research, innovation, skill development, consultancy, and entrepreneurship in five AISECT Group Universities. It proved to be a force multiplier and the best example of collaboration and synergy, where men and material resources of five universities came together in a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional mode; for not only the best and optimum use of resources but also to generate excellent spirit –de-corps and show how one plus one becomes eleven. Since then, many other international and national organizations from academia and industries have been brought into the fold through MoUs for research projects and activities. An advisory panel of 25 national and internationally renowned experts from various fields is also part of this big network. Seed money of annual Rs. One Crore and attractive incentives are changing the research skyline in the AISECT Group of Universities with an unprecedented number of projects, papers, books, events, consultancies, and innovations during the last five years.
