The university has special focus on developing employable skills among both students and youth from the sub-urban and rural areas of the country. With skill development as a priority in the academic agenda, RNTU is now the first private Indian university to introduce compulsory skill courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The university trains its students in one skill in each semester with at least four skills in an eight-semester course and two skills in a four-semester course. At present, the university offers 51 skill courses that are operational as per the syllabus that is offered by the different departments. The students are urged to opt for more than one skill if they want to. The skill academies offer the skill courses through the respective departments and for the delivery of skill courses that are aligned with NSQF the students will be provided with a NSDC-Rabindranath Tagore University certificate.
